In response to that request, Racquetball Canada Director of Coaching Ron Brown has scheduled 10 days in September and October to work with the provincial associations on organizational and kick-start activities. Watch for a report in the November newsletter. Coaching Meeting The Coaching Association of Canada will host a meeting in September. One of the topics of discussion will be the CBET program, of which Racquetball Canada is one of the leaders. Executive Director Jan Coates and Director of Coaching Ron Brown will attend. Canada Winter Games Racquetball Canada has identified Provincial Winter Games and Canada Winter Games as events necessary to the growth of our sport. Over the past year, every province has made Herculean efforts to improve the level of junior participation. As part of this initiative, Executive Director Jan Coates and Director of Coaching Ron Brown have arranged to meet with the Canada Winter Games people, to make sure that they are aware of our successes, and to see where we go from here. 2003 National Championships As reported in June, Vancouver's Club On Top - the club which was awarded the right to host the 2003 National Championships - has been sold. On July 13, the new owners confirmed that they are committed to keeping the courts in order to host the 2003 Nationals, and that Terry Woo will stay on to coordinate the event. Another Court Lost Jamie Bileski reports that the EK YM-YWCA in Manitoba will convert one of its racquetball courts into other space. This is a terrible blow for one of the largest and longest-running leagues in the country. The 75+ racquetball players at the EK-Y are also concerned over the effect of this on tournaments. |
