In a major effort to improve services to coaches and to increase awareness of the programs and services the association offers, the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) unveiled a redesigned Web site today. Coaches have come to rely on http://www.coach.ca for access to the latest information on education and training and recognition, for coaching news, and for quality resources. "The changes we've made to our site will make it easier for coaches to find what they are looking for," says John Bales, CAC president. Information for Masters The (U.S.) National Masters Association is has a new web site - check it out at http://nmra.home.attbi.com. Further information is available on their website. Sport Leadership The Coaching Association of Canada is pleased to announce that interest in Sport Leadership 2002 in Montreal has exceeded expectations and as a result they are no longer accepting registrations. "We look forward to seeing you in Vancouver for Sport Leadership 2003. Next year's conference is being held at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver from October 30 to November 2, 2003." Eyeguards "With any active sport or recreational activity there is a risk of eye injury. Because quality of vision can determine whether or not we can participate in any level of sport, it is important to be attentive to eye protection. When selecting goggles for eye safety wear, the following factors should be taken into consideration: -the entire area around the eye (including sides) should be covered -frames should be lightweight without sliding during play -eye wear should be secured with a band around the back of the head. For more information on how to keep the eyes safe during play, please access the article below." In addition to Louise, Kris and Kelli, Brian wants to celebrate the involvement of Sue Dale in the sport. "Playing mostly doubles, she is a former multi-year provincial champion of Ontario, and semi-finalist at the national level in Women's Open and Mixed Doubles in the 1990s. A long-time doubles partner of Julie Duchene, Sue has returned because of missing the competitive level and the great people who participate in our wonderful sport. Sue can be found at most tournaments accompanied by husband Jim and son Ryan." In Ontario, Racquetball keeps on growing. Hotel for 2003 National Championships, Vancouver After the most recent issue of Canadian Racquetball magazine was published, the hotel mentioned in the magazine contacted us to say that they would be closing for renovations. So we have changed the host hotel to the Robsonstrasse Hotel, and we are awaiting information from them about on-line registration for our National event. Further details will be available in the newsletter as those details become available. |
