Racquetball Canada MagazineMaterial is currently being solicited for the next Racquetball Canada magazine, which will be out 'soon' (read: sometime between tomorrow and next year). Elite PlayersThis season's Canadian National Team selection events have been announced. The doubles selection event will be January 22-25, 2004 in Saskatoon, and the singles event will be February 13-15 in Victoria. Happy birthday to national team members Brian Istace (Oct 29) and Veronica Guillemette (Oct 18). Since the last newsletter, the only pro tournament has been a Ladies Pro Racquetball event in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cheryl Gudinas beat Kerri Wachtel in the final, 3 games to 1. No Canadians participated in that event. Full results of the men's and women's pro tours can be found at their respective websites: New Tournament ScheduleThe new tournament schedule with tournaments across Canada is now available on the RC website. The tournaments for October are:
Prize money will be available at the B.C. Open in the divisions of Men's and Women's Open and Men's Open doubles; also, the women can enter for free (except the Open division). Specific information (e.g., entry form, results, etc.) for tournaments is available on the provincial websites that can be accessed through the RC links page. AdministriviaThe Racquetball Canada board is now complete with the confirmation of Geri Powell as Racquetball Canada's new Vice-President for Domestic Affairs, and Evan Pritchard as the new Vice-President for Marketing and Communications. The RC board of directors page has been updated and reformatted. Provincially, B.C. Racquetball has a new website at www.racquetballbc.ca. In closing...Remember : March 13-21, 2004 will be National Racquetball Week. Last year was the first time we designated a week to racquetball, so we hope to build on the success we had then to make next year's week even better. Please renew your Racquetball Canada membership for the 2003-04 through the Web site, or the national office : contact Ron Brown by email or phone at 204-237-9880. Please keep your contact information updated, including email addresses. Doing so saves RC money, which means it saves you money. Also, it helps us keep you informed of what is going on in Canadian racquetball.
