Pro ToursKane Waselenchuk has been completely dominant on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) this season. He's entered 5 tournaments and won 4 of them. Waselenchuk might have won the fifth if he hadn't suffered an injury during the semi-finals. His match record this season is now 18-1. In October, he won three IRT tournaments: in Casper, Wyoming, Chicago, and Milwaukee. You can read summaries of those results in the Racquetball Canada press releases on them. Mike Green has been hampered by an elbow injury this season. He played in the Casper IRT tournament, and was the defending champion, but he lost to Chris Crowther in the round of 16, 11-1, 11-9, 11-5. Some other Canadian players also played in Casper. Saskatchewan players Lee Connell, Chris Exner, and Nathaniel Husulak entered the qualifying round of the tournament. Connell lost to eventual main draw qualifier Jared Torres, 11-3, 11-3, 11-5. Exner beat James Kostal, 12-10, 11-3, 12-10, but then lost to Chris Crowther, 11-2, 11-0, 11-3. Husulak defeated Jonathan Schrack, 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 before losing to IRT veteran Mike Guidry, 11-7, 11-3, 11-1. On the Ladies Professional Racquetball Association (LPRA) tour, Christie Van Hees of Kelowna, British Columbia lost to Cheryl Gudinas, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6, in the final of the Gaithersburg, Maryland LPRA tournament. Nevertheless, Van Hees has the best record this season, as she won the previous LPRA tournament in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. Van Hees reached the Gaithersburg final by defeating Rhonda Rajsich (USA) 10-12, 11-1, 11-7, 11-5, in the semi-final, Tammy Brown (USA) 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 in the quarter final, and Carola Loma (Bolivia) 11-2, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6 in the round of 16. Pro Racquetball's "Grand Slam" event - the US Open - happens November 17-21. Waselenchuk is the defending men's champion, and will be the favorite to win this year, while Van Hees was a finalist last year, and is clearly one of the favorites this year. Racquetball FundraiserThe BC Racquetball Association is holding an online fundraising auction. Items to bid on include hotels, vacations, sight-seeing airplane flights, and other nonracquetball items. Anyone can bid -- not only racquetball community members, so feel free to mention this to your non-racquetball friends. Bidding ends November 15, so please check it out before then at www.gobid.ca. Canadian Racquetball MagazineThe next issue of Canadian Racquetball will be out in the middle of November. There will be articles on some positive racquetball developments in Canada, as well as the Junior and Senior World Championships. Coaching TrainingOne article in the Canadian Racquetball magazine will describe some of the new approach that the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is adopting. Circuits professionnelsKane Waselenchuk domine le classement de l'International Racquetball Tour (IRT) cette saison. Il a pris part à cinq tournois et a été quatre fois vainqueur. Waselenchuk aurait pu en remporter un cinquième s'il n'avait pas subi une blessure à la jambe en demi-finale. Il présente une fiche de 18 victoires et une seule défaite cette saison. Il a remporté trois tournois de l'IRT en octobre, à Casper, au Wyoming, à Chicago et à Milwaukee. Vous pouvez lire le sommaire de ces résultats dans les communiqués de presse de Racquetball Canada. Mike Green a été ralenti par une blessure au coude cette saison. Il a pris part au tournoi de Casper comme champion en titre mais s'est incliné contre Chris Crowther (11-1, 11-9 et 11-5) en huitièmes de finale. D'autres Canadiens ont pris part au tournoi à Casper. L'Omnium des États-Unis, un tournoi du « Grand Chelem » se déroulera du 17 au 21 novembre. Waselenchuk est le champion en titre chez les hommes et il sera le favori pour l'emporter cette année tandis que Christie Van Hees a été finaliste l'an dernier et sera parmi les favorites encore cette année.
