"The Canadian Racquetball Association was incorporated on April 13th, 1971. John Kempo, Howie Rankin and Ken Wilson took the initiative to found the CRA and along with able assistance from Marilyn Rankin, administered racquetball in Canada for a little more than three (3) years. This was done on a purely voluntary basis with very little financial support. Along the way, CRA hosted three (3) consecutive National Tournaments, became a member of Sport Federation of Canada and then achieved a breakthrough with Sport Canada in obtaining Federal financial assistance in mid 1974 for the 4th National Tournament which was held in Montreal in November. Having accomplished this and after serving three difficult but rewarding years, John Kempo decided to step aside and along with the Board of Directors ... I was elected President." - Ivan Velan
