Team Canada Training Camp in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB - Racquetball's defending World Champion Team will attend a training camp in Winnipeg this Friday and Saturday.

With summer normally being the off-season for racquetball, the team is looking for some competitive opportunities prior to their July 31 departure for the 2002 World Championships in Puerto Rico.

Coaches Michel Gagnon (Longueuil) and Ron Brown (Winnipeg) will oversee the players in both singles and doubles play at the University of Winnipeg. The team will also work with sport psychologist Tom Patrick.

At the 2000 World Championships, Canada bested 32 other countries to capture the Gold Cup with a one-point win over second place Team USA.

Singles: Jennifer Saunders (Winnipeg), Josee Grand'Maitre (Longueuil)
Doubles: Amanda MacDonald (Prince Albert), Karina Odegard (Saskatoon)
