Michael Green reaches finals

Brossard, Quebec – Michael Green has entered the Canadian national championships as the top seeded players in both the doubles and singles event. The Hamilton native might have dropped his attempt at the national title in the doubles tournament along with partner Tom O’Brien, of Toronto, but he didn’t give an inch to his opponents so far in the singles competition.

The favourite has yet to win a national title and has advanced to the final playing like a surgeon in his semi final victory over Vincent Gagnon of Longueuil, Quebec.

“I changed my game a lot from playing squash I move the ball more and not always try to hit it hard,” he said.

Green will face second seeded Brian Istace, from Calgary. “I expect pace from Brian and we are both going to be hungry for our first national title,” he said.

The top women’s favourites also made it to the title game. Josee Grand’Maitre, of Longueuil, Quebec will try to repeat as national champion against last year’s finalist, Jennifer Saunders, of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
